About ME
Hi! I'm Shelley Auer Schneider. I am a professional singer, voice teacher and yoga instructor in Franklin, TN.
Singing brings joy! I’ve been singing all my life––first in church with my family, then through high school, college and graduate school. In 1998, I graduated from Baylor University with a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance. For the more than 15 years since then, I’ve been teaching voice lessons and performing professionally. I lived in Houston for 12 years and sang 10 seasons with Houston Grand Opera and their educational outreach program called Opera to Go. In addition to opera, I’ve performed plays, musicals and cabaret shows with many other professional groups across the country. In addition to my training in music, I also spent two years studying Sanford Meisner’s acting technique in Houston and trained in acting at The Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City.
Some notable roles I have performed include: Amy in Company, Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd, Dinah in Trouble in Tahiti, and Muzzy in Thoroughly Modern Millie.
ABOUT MY TEACHING
I love teaching people to sing! Whether a new student is a novice or a pro, I begin with a solid foundation in vocal technique––breath control, singing posture, and vocal projection. From there, we add musical expression and performance practice. My goal is to help you develop your own musical voice. Singing is a skill that brings a lifetime of rewards.
Currently I teach private lessons at Lipscomb University. I am also building my private home studio in Franklin.
